We are open and accepting reservation requests for the Winter and Summer 2021 terms with some adjustments to minimize exposure to COVID-19 for ourselves and our guests.

  • To avoid scattered arrivals throughout the winter we will have 2 entry date slots. We ask guests to either arrive on the first entry point on January 14th or during the second entry point on March 1st. Summer entry slots – May 13th, June 3rd, July 1st.

  • We will host a maximum of 10 students at any given time. Because of limited numbers, there will be a minimum stay of two weeks. Students who want to stay for the entire term will be given priority.

  • Under Massachusetts state mandates & guidelines, we require everyone to be tested for COVID-19 before arriving and to email documentation showing a negative test result, as well as possible re-testing after arriving at L’Abri.

  • We ask all people to take appropriate precautions prior to arriving and while traveling to L’Abri, including washing their hands, wearing a mask in public areas, and maintaining physical distance from other travelers.

  • Once guests have arrived, life in the L’Abri houses will adhere as strictly as possible to Massachusetts public safety guidelines, and the recommendations of the town of Southborough’s public health department.

  • We will continue to have Friday night lectures during the term. Lectures will be closed to the public but streamed live on our Facebook page and uploaded to our podcast.

Welcome to Southborough L'Abri

What is L’Abri?

French for “shelter,” L’Abri is a residential study center in the context of a small community of homes. Born in post-World War II Switzerland when Francis and Edith Schaeffer opened their home to those who came seeking answers to life’s many questions, L’Abri has grown to include eight residential branches in nine countries. Southborough L’Abri has been open for guests since 1979 and is located 30 miles west of Boston, Massachusetts.
We must remember throughout our lives that in God’s sight there are no little people and no little places. Only one thing is important: to be consecrated persons in God’s place for us, at each moment.
– Francis A. Schaeffer
Food cannot take care of  spiritual, psychological, and emotional problems, but the feeling of being loved and cared for, the actual comfort of the beauty and flavor of food… and physical well-being, help one to go on during the next hours better equipped to meet the problems.
– Edith Schaeffer
